My name is Louise Gray and I am 24 years old and I
am currently the education outreach worker for Y-SMART. My background
is dance and drama for which I have a degree. I started my career
in this area and then progressed into youth work and residential social
care. My work now entails going to colleges, schools, Pupil Referral
Unit and Care Homes in Northern Devon delivering targeted drug and
alcohol education sessions to young people. My interests still lie
with dance and drama and love going to the theatre. |

My name is Mandy Stringer and I am the Service Administrator
for Y-SMART. I moved to Devon 2 years ago from Solihull in the West
Midlands and have worked in Customer Services or office administration
throughout my long but established career. I look after the 5 practitioners
that work for Y-SMART and try to make their lives a little easier,
although making the tea is not part of my job role. I suppose you
could call me the office dogs body but I have the last laugh, as I
am the only one who knows where anything is! |

My name is Simon De'Ath and I work for Y-SMART as a
community care worker, I joined the team in February 2003. I was born
in Norfolk and after completing A Level in Performing Arts and Theatre
Studies I moved to Essex and joined the Police Force. After 4 years
I changed jobs and became an Education Welfare Officer working with
the schools and Thurrock Youth Offending Team. I took up wave skiing
during this period and found that I was travelling to North Devon
with such regularity that it made sense to move here. |

My name is Lucy Rosser and I am a Community Psychiatric
Nurse with Y-SMART. I have been a nurse for 15 years and did my training
in a large mental hospital in Wales. My experience includes working
with challenging behaviours, elderly mentally ill, rehabilitation,
acute inpatient care, adult drug users, young offenders and youth
work. I have lived in Devon for ten years and before that I lived
in Wales but originate from a very small town called Bromyard, which
is between Hereford and Worcester in the Midlands. My interests include
walking, music and lots of outdoor activities (apart from surfing!)
and I still have a liking for dodgy thrash metal bands which is a
legacy from my carefree days as a youth!!!! |

My name is Sarah Simpson and I am the Service Manager
for Y-SMART.
Originally I started life in the catering industry but then moved
on to working for PGL and managed many of the centres dotted around
the UK. I did some travelling before starting work for Social Services
in 1999 as a generic YOT worker. I continued to work for the Youth
Offending Team and have always had an interest in substance misuse
so when the opportunity came up to start a service for under 19's
it was a great opportunity. The rest, as they say is history......!
